Senior leaders from across New England are invited to join us for the 2026 LeadingAge New England Senior Leaders Retreat, taking place August 5–6 in Maine.
This year’s retreat will focus on how aging services leaders can embrace disruption, foster innovation, and help shape the future. As AI, emerging technologies, workforce pressures, and changing consumer expectations continue to reshape the field, this retreat will create space for senior leaders to step away from day-to-day demands and think strategically about what comes next.
The retreat begins with a welcome reception on Wednesday, August 5 from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at the Cambria Hotel Portland Downtown – Old Port, followed by a full-day workshop on Thursday, August 6 from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. at Piper Shores in Scarborough, Maine. Space is limited.

Assisted Living Peer Group: Review of Final AG Regulations
LeadingAge MA Assisted Living members are invited to join us for our July Assisted Living Peer Group meeting on Thursday, July 9 from 3:00–4:00 p.m. via Zoom.
On Monday, June 22, Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell issued final consumer protection regulations for Massachusetts Assisted Living Residences. The regulations will become effective upon publication in the Massachusetts Register on July 17, 2026.
During this peer group meeting, members will review the Attorney General’s final regulations and discuss what will be required when they take effect.
The Executive Office of Aging and Independence has informed LeadingAge MA that it will not penalize Assisted Living Residences for failing to provide AGE with the required 30-day notice under 651 CMR 12.04(13)(b) for Alterations, including changes to documents made to comply with the Attorney General’s regulations. AGE recognizes that this notice requirement is untenable given the current implementation timeline and asks that ALRs submit updated documents as soon as practicable.
Questions may be submitted in advance of the meeting to Elissa Sherman at esherman@LeadingAgeMA.org.

Member Spotlight: Deaconess Abundant Life Communities Supporting Health Care Innovation
LeadingAge MA is pleased to spotlight member Deaconess Abundant Life Communities for its work supporting health care innovation through MeHI’s Primary Care Innovation Challenge.
At MeHI’s Massachusetts Digital Health Forward event on June 3, finalists from the Primary Care Innovation Challenge presented innovative solutions designed to support and sustain primary care. New England Deaconess Association served as a sandbox partner for two of the Challenge winners: HUB Healthcare and Welfie.
This is a great example of the creative and forward-looking work happening across the LeadingAge MA membership. By partnering with emerging healthtech innovators, Deaconess Abundant Life Communities is helping test and advance new approaches that may strengthen care delivery, support providers, and improve outcomes for older adults.

Proxy Voting Is Open: Please Share Your Organization’s Voice
LeadingAge Massachusetts has entered an important next step in the proposed merger process with LeadingAge Maine & New Hampshire: proxy voting is now open for LeadingAge MA member organizations.
Each LeadingAge MA member organization is entitled to one vote on the proposed merger. To make sure every member organization is represented, we ask that one authorized leader from each organization complete the proxy form on behalf of the organization. We do not need multiple individuals from the same organization to vote.
If you represent multiple LeadingAge MA member sites, please complete one proxy form and list all member sites within the form.
With member approval, the unified association will be named LeadingAge New England-North. The proposed merger builds on the strengths of both organizations to expand capacity, deepen connections, and strengthen our collective voice while preserving the relationships, responsiveness, and sense of community members value most.
Members are encouraged to review the available information and complete the proxy voting process as soon as possible.

Celebrating a Strong 2026 Annual Conference & EXPO
Thank you to the many members, Business Affiliates, sponsors, speakers, exhibitors, and partners who helped make the 2026 LeadingAge Massachusetts Annual Conference & EXPO such a meaningful and energizing day for our community.
Held on June 10 at the Four Points Sheraton Norwood, this year’s conference brought together aging services leaders and professionals from across Massachusetts for a full day of learning, connection, and shared purpose. Centered around the theme Change Makers, the day reflected what makes the LeadingAge Massachusetts community so strong: a deep commitment to mission, a willingness to share knowledge, and a collective focus on strengthening the future of aging services.
Attendee feedback reflected the strength of the day, with 98% of survey respondents rating the overall conference experience as excellent or very good and attendees describing the event as “well planned,” “informative,” and one that “gets better every year.”
Throughout the conference, members and partners engaged in timely conversations on ethics, governance, workforce, technology, affordable housing, dementia care, and the changing needs of older adults and the organizations that serve them. We are especially grateful to the many LeadingAge Massachusetts members and Business Affiliates who led breakout sessions and shared practical insights, lived experience, and real-world strategies with their peers.
We were honored to welcome Dr. Michael Gillette for an engaging keynote on ethics in aging services and Dr. Lisa Ippolito for an uplifting closing session that reminded attendees of the heart, purpose, and impact behind this work.
We also extend our sincere thanks to our event sponsors — Deaconess Abundant Life Communities, The Nurse Network, Partners Pharmacy, McKesson, Geriatric Medical & Surgical Supply, and Vantage Healthcare — for their generous support of this year’s conference. Their partnership helped strengthen the day’s programming, support meaningful opportunities for connection, and create a welcoming experience for attendees.
The success of this year’s Conference & EXPO is a reflection of the strength, generosity, and engagement of the LeadingAge Massachusetts membership. Thank you for showing up, sharing your expertise, supporting one another, and continuing to move our field forward together.
