Organization Overview
Good Shepherd Community Care is been one of the most trusted healthcare organizations in greater Boston caring for people through serious illness and loss. We are mission-driven with a long track record of unwavering commitment to the ever-changing needs of our increasingly diverse community.
Founded by volunteers as the original Massachusetts hospice in 1978, Good Shepherd has expanded over time to deliver pediatric and adult palliative care, community education and support, and grief and bereavement services to all ages. Good Shepherd has thrived because of its continued commitment to our visionary principles and our steadfast focus on prioritizing people over profits.
Good Shepherd has been fortunate to play a leadership role in its field throughout history, first in
the development of hospice care, and later in its expansion to a broader range of educational,
palliative and grief services. As a mission-based organization, our programmatic developments
have always been driven by needs expressed to us by our community rather than profit.
