Program Description

Implementation of the new Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA) is proceeding right on schedule and is generating lots of questions – as well as some anxiety – for employers. On July 1, 2019, Massachusetts employers of all sizes will be required to start making contributions to the Trust Fund from which the benefits will be paid. Starting in 2021, employees will become eligible to take up to 12 weeks of paid, job-protected family leave, and up to 20 weeks of medical leave.

Learning Objectives

You’re invited to join us for an interactive presentation and discussion to dig into what PFMLA means for you and your organization, including:

  • How paid leave will be funded
  • Eligibility and coverage under the law
  • Qualifying uses for leave
  • Maximum leave entitlements
  • Employee and employer notice & posting requirements
  • Payment of leave benefits & interactions with other leaves
  • Job protection & anti-retaliation provisions
